    Horsefeathers is Hiring

Who are we? The Vaglienty family has owned Horsefeathers for nearly 40 years; we are a diverse retail business in downtown Waukegan. Originally established as a vintage goods and clothing store, we transitioned in the 90’s to become an “international bazaar”, selling products such as body jewelry, sage and smudges, crystals and stones, tapestries, incense, oils, pendants. We have a reputation as a high-touch customer service business with low prices and quality products; we are a busy, fast-paced environment. We operate a high-touch customer service model; nothing is self-serve. You will be answering customer questions and helping customers to find and select merchandise. “proactive engagement” is how we operate versus “passive assistance”. On average we…

    Store Policies – Revised 04-2022

Horsefeathers Store Policies Updated 12/19/2022 Updated December 2022: With the virus still with us, but with more people vaccinated, we’re changing our store polices to reflect all of that. All policies have been put in place for a reason; some will be happy about them, others not so happy, some won’t care, and we realize this. We’ve really put a lot of thought into these changes and feel they are for the best, especially when it comes to health and safety. Some may change in the future, but for now, these are our store policies. If you want a reply to your comments or questions it’s best to email us…

Masks required on some days after 3-1-2022

This store policy replaces all previous mask policies. Per current CDC guidance if “community level” is low, masks are optional. If “community level” is medium, masks are recommended for high-risk people. Both the owner and manager of Horsefeathers, as well as many of our customers, are high risk. Each day we will check the CDC website to see what the community level is for Lake County IL. If it is low, masks are optional but preferred. We would love it if you wore a mask, but they are not required. If it is medium or higher, we will require masks in the store. Masks will be provided if you do…

No More Email and Phone orders

06/27/2020 Effective immediately, we are no longer taking phone or email orders. We tried, but we’ve learned that when it comes to body jewelry, many customers do not know their sizes, and it is taking a lot longer than we thought to take orders. We cannot provide good customer service with our current process. By stopping orders we’ll be able to focus all our time on getting the inside of the store redesigned and rebuilt so we can reopen. AND WE WILL REOPEN but we don’t have a date yet. Thanks for your patience, and keep an eye on Facebook and join our email list to get updates on when…
